Vilnius and Kaisiadorys poultry farms

 The poultry farms with long standing tradition – open limited liability company Vilniaus paukštynas and open limited liability company Kaisiadorys poultry farm – date back their history to the middle of the last century. The poultry farms are owned by Kauno Grūdai group of companies KG Group – some of the most modern, economically strongest and largest manufacturing associations in Lithuania. The concern manages the processes from grain production to serving poultry on the consumers' table.

The names of Vilnius and Kaisiadorys poultry farms are associated with the longest tradition, mature experience, high standards of labour, professionalism of employees and management, quality, and modernity of production technology.

The activities of poultry rearing and poultry processing is divided into the following businesses:

  •     Fresh meat business and semi-product business (production of hatching eggs, day-old chick hatching, rearing of broiler chickens, fresh chicken products, meat semi-products)
  •     Meat products and semi-finished products business (manufacture of products)
  •     Company owned retail store business (38 branded chicken shops throughout Lithuania)
  •     Animal by-products business


Activities of Vilnius and Kaisiadorys poultry farms are organised in accordance with the quality management and product safety standards: ISO 22000, and BRC food safety standard covering the British retail network consortium system. The international standards are applied in all stages of operation, from incubation to the development of final product and its delivery to sales outlets.

Poultry farms manage the entire production chain, which allows to deliver raw materials to all components of the business process chain. The companies have their own parent flocks where eggs are incubated in own hatcheries and provide chicken for the farms. Poultry farms and their subsidiaries have 175 chicken houses with the annual production of 32 million broilers.

Over a month, Vilnius and Kaisiadorys poultry farms sell 6,000 tonnes of poultry meat and its products, of which 47 percent are exported.

Companies employ 2100 employees.

History of AB Vilniaus Paukstynas

In 1964, AB Vilniaus Paukstynas started its operations. The extensive experience gained throughout the years, mature traditions and the employees’ skilfulness and professionalism help the company maintain its market leader position. Throughout all the years of the company’s operation, its main activity has remained unchanged. It is engaged in the production and processing of poultry and poultry/chicken products.
In 2004, seeking to expand its activities, Vilniaus Paukstynas acquired the Lietbro joint stock poultry farming company in the Panevėžys region. This company implemented a broiler sector modernisation project, which was partly funded by the EU as per the Rural Development Programme for Lithuania 2007-2013.
AB Vilniaus Paukstynas is a member of the Lithuanian Poultry Farming Association (LPA).

History of AB Kaisiadoriu paukstynas

In 1972,  AB Kaisiadoriu paukstynas started its operations. Throughout all the years of the company’s operation its main activity has remained unchanged – the production and processing of poultry and poultry/chicken products.  
In 1999, the Kaisiadoriu Paukstyno Mazmena joint stock company was established. This subsidiary company owns a network of branded chicken product stores all over Lithuania. These retail stores sell chicken products produced by the poultry farming companies. The network contains 47 branded chicken product retail stores in Lithuania.
In 2011, AB Kaisiadoriu Paukstynas expanded its area of activities by acquiring an industrial division in Domantonys and starting the production of food eggs. However, the low production volume was not profitable and a decision was made to start rearing broiler chickens in this division.  
In 2004, the Domantoniu Paukstynas joint stock company was established and its poultry sheds were transformed to rear meat chicken.
In 2005, seeking to increase the production volumes, the Alesninku Paukstynas joint stock company was established and three modern meat broiler chicken farming sheds were constructed in the company. The project was successfully implemented using EU funds. Since 2007, broiler chickens have been successfully reared in this company.
AB Kaisiadoriu Paukstynas is a member of the Lithuanian Poultry Farming Association (LPA).


Today, AB Kauno Grudai, Kaisiadoriu Paukstynas, Vilniaus Paukstynas and their subsidiary companies form one of the largest, most modern and economically strongest business mergers in Lithuania -  the KG Group of companies.
