About the BRC standard

The British Retail Consortium has developed and implemented the BRC Food Technical Standard, which is designed to be used in assessing the labelled products of retailers. Its purpose is to help retailers and brand owners to produce food products of equal quality and safety. The standard has become invaluable for the organizations working in this sector. It was and still is considered to be the benchmark of good practice in the food industry. This feature and its application outside the United Kingdom (UK) helped the standard to evolve into a global standard used not just to assess retailer suppliers, but also serve as a framework based on which many companies have developed their supplier assessment programs and brand production.

BRC standard is a global measure based on the latest food safety standards and methodologies. The requirements of the standard are related to the quality management system and the HACCP system, and supplemented with detailed prerequisite programs.

About the IFS standard

IFS Food, International Food Standard, has been developed by the German, French, Italy Association of Retailers.

IFS is one of the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognized food safety standards, a rigorous BRC (British Food Consortium's Universal Food Safety Standard).

About Halal

Halal means that the product is in compliance with Islamic laws and is permitted for use. This is the most important food certificate in Muslim countries. This certificate is valid in all Muslim and Arab countries as well as in Muslim communities in Europe and other countries. Essential requirement for halal products is that the food must not contain any traces of substances banned by Islam, and ensure high product hygiene and safety regulations.

ISO 22000 standard (Food Safety Management System)

After the introduction of the ISO 22000 he company is focused on the prevention way of thinking, which helps to prevent food safety failures through conscious risk management. The ISO 22000 standard has been developed by combining it with other international management system standards, including the ISO 9001. This standard allows the company to evaluate and demonstrate the product's compliance with food safety requirements and demonstrate the control of food safety hazards. Priorities are satisfaction of customer expectations and continuous quality improvement.

The standard ensures the safety of food “from farm to table” according to the following generally recognized key elements:

  •     Structured information flow in all directions, both inside and outside;
  •     Prerequisite programs: Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Hygiene Practices, Good Agricultural Practice;
  •     Management system management;
  •     Fundamental principles of HACCP.

ISO 22000 standards allows the organization to:

  •     Develop and manage a food safety management system, well-defined and well-structured, tailored to the needs and expectations;
  •     Understand what are the real risks for customers and the company;
  •     Have food safety performance improvement and the monitoring and measuring instrument;
  •     Better carry out food safety legal requirements.
