Vilnius poultry farm receives international food safety and quality certificates

Vilnius poultry farm successfully passed BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (German, French and Italian Association of Retailers) audits for the international standards of food safety and quality. These audits are conducted in the company annually, in accordance with the standard requirements which are continuously updated and strengthened. BRC and IFS certification means that Vilnius poultry farm meets the requirements and is allowed to supply its production to the retail chains throughout Europe, also Africa, Asia, Australia and America.

“Assurance of quality of our products is the basis of our activity. We set ourselves high requirements, therefore we constantly review processes, introduce innovative technologies and renovate our poultry houses. We purposefully focused on modernisation in order to be able to offer a natural and high-quality product to our consumers from field to table. International audits of food safety and quality and certificates we receive serve to confirm the high-quality level,” says Darius Gudačiauskas, Managing Director of Poultry Business of of the group of companies of KG Group which manages poultry farms in Vilnius and Kaišiadorys.

As Skirmante Sokolovskienė, Head of Quality Control Department of Vilnius poultry farm notes, BRC and IFS are not only one of the most honourable standards, which are applicable in many countries and enable to export manufactured products to those countries. It is a strong mechanism of self-control, which ensures constant quality and safety of products and allows to improve by introduction of new technologies.

BRC audit was performed at Vilnius poultry farm fresh poultry unit, whereas IFS audit covered all production units. The audits covered evaluation of all production processes, including equipment used in production, personnel qualifications, quality and reliability of primary raw materials and products, sanitary hygiene criteria, self-control of quality and food safety based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis on Critical Control Points) principles, etc. The fact that Vilnius poultry farm received updated high evaluation certificates from BRC and IFS confirms, that the company successfully meets the ultimate global requirements for food safety and quality.

Vilnius and Kaišiadorys' poultry farms, managed by KG Group, export 50% of their production to more than 50 countries. In 2018, sales income of Vilnius poultry farm and Kaišiadorys poultry farm managed by KG Group, reached 209.7 mln. EUR, where export income comprised 108.5 mln. EUR.
